I have always liked Perry Stone from Cleveland, Tennessee. The guy is a very well studied student of the Bible and history. He really impressed me with his knowledge. This is especially odd in Classic Pentecostalism.
The reason for that is that we in the Assemblies of God, Church of God (Cleveland) and Foursquare tend to think that being hard headed and dogmatic is more anointed that using reasoning and logic.
Historically, Pentecostals have been very bad about placing value on education. Men like Stanley Horton were the stand outs. Perry Stone is another breath of fresh air as well.
Is Perry Stone right about the American Dream?
In some ways, he is right. I think he is over looking something though. The Church is working hard to destroy it as well. Seems every day, a former prosperity preacher is now rejecting their former core subject for a vow of poverty and other heresies. Hyper Grace is a favorite one here lately.
I am not sure so many are leaving the message of GOOD NEWS that you do not have to be in fear of being poor but I am sure God has not changed. I am sure He is still the God of the Now and Jesus is the Lord of the Harvest.
The American Dream is based on biblical text that bring out seed time and harvest, blessing and cursing, and being faithful in all things. God loves to promote people in every area of life. At least last I checked, He did.
Is the Church to blame?
I believe it is. We have everything from Carltson Pearson’s rejection of hell to Joel Osteen’s rejection of repentence. Different ministries are all lining up in the middle of different degrees of crazy ideas.
I believe the Church, especially in America, has lost its way and will preach anything that will put a butt in the seat for a few weeks so we can get some offerings.
“Go stand at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for directions to the old road,
The tried-and-true road. Then take it.
Discover the right route for your souls.
–Jeremiah 6:16
