Confronting the Welton cult worshippers: When the ship is sinking and they ask for sand!

The Jonathan Welton saga, his Jezebel ways and his Welton Academy is all going up in smoke. Most people are looking at what is happening and seeing the truth: when you lose your theology, you will quickly use your integrity. This is happening before our very eyes. It is concerning how much “popular opinion” weighs into public failure in ministry. It is almost that we hold leaders to the trail by popularity, not by the standards of the New Testament.

With that said, the saddest part of this saga is the way some people are loyal to Jonathan Welton even knowing he is actively engaged in sin as I write this. This is not something he did a decade ago but did a day ago. They still are more worried about Jonathan and his ministry than they are the victims and the eternal life of Welton.

Make no mistake about it: Jonathan Welton is lacking intimacy with the Lord. Matthew 25 is very clear. If a person loses intimacy with Jesus, they will not inherit the Kingdom of God. In other words, they have lost their salvation. If Jonathan was to die today, there is a high possibility that he would not enter into heaven.

Many have asked me about this letter from Danny Silk (think Bethel Redding). Here is the complete letter:

Encounters with the Welton Cult

There is a man that attacked my character based on gossip (a sin) and created falsehood (another sin) against me for calling out Jonathan Welton recently. He made some very outlandish claims about me based on gossip started by haters of Azusa Report that are not even born again. In the discussion, his claims got even more funny. To be fair, it seems that he took a serious dislike for me back in 2017 and it just exploded this week. However, his worship of Jonathan Welton is insane.

The following is some of the claims this worship of Welton made against me: (these are his words)

  • You are a thief and a liar and I am sorry but I don’t talk to people who are in cahoots with the devil.
  • If you continue with your attacks of the Welton family I will be sadly forced to expose the truth about you and the heresy hunting website the Azusa report.
  • Yea it’s cause you are a thief and a liar and keep hurting people that’s the real reason you left Kansas City cause you got exposed yet again.

The first thing is his person knows nothing about me besides gossip he has heard from other who dislike Azusa Report because we are a Holy Ghost revival ministry. He has never met me and as of the other day, he is not welcome in my circle of friends. It seems he rejoices in gossip and attacking other believers. There is no room in my life for those who degrade me or discourage destiny.

The first one of these attacks is down right funny. I won’t even respond to the outlandish attacks. Trying to speak things like that over someone’s life is just irresponsible at best. However, the things is just not acceptable to me is claiming anyone who does not agree with Jonathan Welton is “in cahoots with the devil.” That is beyond outlandish!

Next on the list of crazy worship is that I continue to cover this development, he will find something to slander me about and attack me for boldly writing about revival and bad theology. I am not attacking the Welton family. (Jonathan did that by himself) I am talking about heresy he preaches, the bad doctrine he presents and now, the cycle of damage he has created in multiple over marriages.

The final one on this list (before he got blocked) was again trying to insult me and then making this wild claim that I am hurting people (while Jonathan is the one in open sin). This is insanity. He goes as far as saying he knows why I left Kansas City as some deep state conspiracy of being “exposed.” None of this is true. (There was nor is any drama brewing in Kansas City around Azusa Report).

As you can see, this was just over the top attacks on me because they did not want to face the facts: Jonathan Welton is operating in a Jezebel spirit and the Spirit of Christ is not in him. My prayer is this man reconciles his comments to me with the New Testament and reaches out to apologized to a brother in Christ.

Azusa Report is Heresy Hunters?

This claim is the worst of them and it is downright funny. Azusa Report has only called one man a hectic: Jonathan Welton. There is things that are concerns that hinder revival that we will discuss but there is never articles that call a different interpretation as heresy as long as it remains within the biblical and historical context of possibilities. (We celebrate IHOPKC and disagree on eschatology for example)

We are doctrinal very Pentecostal that promotes revival and with it things like healing, casting out devils and miracles. The heresy hunter website are ALL against anything that has to do with revival, healing, or deliverance. I really don’t think the vision of Azusa Report would meet the mold for being a heresy hunter website. Sorry.

What Azusa Report is not is a website that is pushed around by every wind of doctrine. There is a lot of crazy idea being preached in the churches right now. Everything from hyper grace to open theism and a lot of things between them. As a ministry, there is security in what we believe and yes, it is classic Pentecostal as the theological framework.

To make things very clear, We still believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for all believers. We still believe that intial physical evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is praying in unknown tongues. We still believe that divine healing is integral to the gospel. We will still believe that there is coming the greatest revival known to humanity and will end with the catching up of the saints. If that is what makes us a heresy hunter to the Welton faithful, so be it!

I’m honestly trying to figure out what’s really happening here. The majority of articles about the alleged abuse have been taken down. You seem very confident in your statements, so do you know first hand or only what everyone else saw briefly? I’m not being sarcastic…I’m really curious as to why things have been pulled if it’s not true? I would hope the integrity of those who made the video and supposedly wrote the letter would prevail over any pressure!
Full disclosure, I’ve moved to a partial preterist view in the last year through a lot of Welton’s teaching and significant study on my own. While certainly a fan, I’m not a Welton worshiper and I feel preterist and futurist can and should be able to co-exist in the body of Christ. I’m cool if you think different, but in the end it’s all about the supremacy of Christ, what he did on the cross and our total dependence on Him alone!

I am not sure of anyone who has pulled anything. What I do know is he pulled his Facebook page down and there is nothing to speak of from him. If it was not true, he would be going public with it. As far as he goes, my door is always open for legit discussion.

There’s no such thing as a jezebel spirit. You can’t show me one scripture that ever says the spirit of jezebel. Jonathan Welton is in sin, but to call those who follow his theology as being in a cult is a bit much. I’m sure plenty would think you are in a cult in your denomination. The mans wrong about how he’s living but it doesn’t mean the theology over all is wrong. He isn’t even living by the things he teaches. If he was I’d agree with you.

Wow seriously don’t use Matthew 25 claim he doesn’t have intimacy with God. You aren’t even understanding those parables correctly if you think a Christian in sin loses their salvation immediately. Do you not sin daily if not weekly? I’m not defending Jonathan’s sin but many in Corinthians were sinning greatly but Paul didn’t say they weren’t saved. Sin is dangerous for it hardens the heart and leads to apostasy. Like those who practice sin and don’t care about Jesus but say oh I’m a Christian .
